Building My Design System
How I built a simple yet effective design system for my personal website
The thing that makes building UI a breeze is a design system. There are many design systems out there, but I what fun are they to use for me as a frontend developer. What I want is a design system that is simple, easy to use, and fun to build with.
I'm rebuilding my personal website, and I think I just discovered the best way to build a design system.
The Process
- First, build a page using whatever components you want
- Ask Cursor to update the design system page to match the page you built
- Finally, AI will document everything in a dedicated design system page
The Result
The result is what you see here - a clean, consistent design that's easy to maintain and extend. My bold prediction for 2025 is that UIs all over the web will become more and more consistent, and design systems will become more and more popular.
